We have an exciting opportunity for a Business Intelligence Financial Analyst in the Atlanta, GA office at Eversheds Sutherland (US) LLP. We are searching for someone who wants to be a valued contributor and member of a talented and dynamic team of lawyers, paralegals and staff. 

The Business Intelligence Financial Analyst will provide broad financial support including financial metrics and analysis to partners and business managers in association with the Director of Pricing & Value, the Firm Financial Partner, the Chief Financial Officer and the Client and Practice Development Team. 

  • Works with the Director of Pricing & Value to provide financial metrics, analysis and support to partners and business managers for client fee negotiations and responses to RFPs, as needed
  • Implement data collection and reporting best practices
  • Develop financial metrics and analysis regarding partner profitability/compensation and lateral partner reviews (including prospective lateral partners under consideration)
  • Develop financial informaiton in preparation for client interviews and other business development opportunities
  • Work with CPD team to train new hires in law firm financial model; provide "Law Firm Economics 101" training for designated CPD members
  • Maintain BI databases of timekeeper billing rates and financial measures, including compensation, FTE, and updates to existing reporting/additional reports in response to changing performance measurement climate as directed by management
  • Develop financial materials to support each PGL in his/her role; articulate key concepts of changing dynamics affecting financial performance within group
  • prepare survey responses for banks (quarterly); prepare full year annual report data for same; analyze reported results; discuss findings, market trends and potential impact to Firm strategy and expense management with the Firm Financial Partner and CFO
  • Prepare annual PwC Billing Rate and Associate Salary Survey; analyze reported results, review results and potential impact to Firm billing rates and compensation strategy with Director of Pricing & Value and, as appropriate, other leadership
  • Provide analysis to those decision makers who seek financial information/insight - whether individual partners, teams of partners, or managers; discuss underlying dynamics affecting financial performance
  • Provide research and review of billing rates an dother revenue metrics; develop billing rate proposals and work with PGLs in finalizing billing rates; work with partners and partner groups in devlopin specialized rates
  • Be attentive to fee arrangements with clients with aged discounting arrangements and multi-year or other customized fee arrangements. Monitor those arrangements where fee arrangements may allow for interim rate adjustment during the contract period. 
  • Work closely with Accounting senior management to avoid billing the same client without coordination due to multiple billing partners across multiple practice areas and offices. 


Specific Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree is required in Finance, Accounting, Business Management, or Information Systems from an accredited college or university. 
  • 7+ years of experience working in the legal industry (law firm or legal department) or in a similarly sized, multi-office professional organization. 
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, proven analytical and problem-solving skills,a nd strong understanding of Accounting principles, standards and accounting transaction flows. 
  • Detail-oriented, organized, inquisitive, with a strong ability to read, analyze, mine, collect, and process analytical informaiton as well as spot trends and provide guidance to executive level users to ensure that data provided answers to questions asked. 
  • Strong knowledge of back-end SQL tables of Aderant Expert. 
  • Advanced skills in TSQL/Excel/SRSS. Knowledge of IBM Cognos preferred. 
  • Team player, willing and eager to help others and share knowledge and skills. 
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize workloads.
  • Ability to present ideas and visualize data in a business-friendly and user-friendly way.
  • Must possess discretion in working with confidential data and work with minimal supervision.
