Client and Industry Teams Manager
Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP, a 800 attorney law firm, is seeking a hard-working, motivated individual to serve as Client and Industry Teams Manager working in the Business Development Department.

Sheppard Mullin’s longstanding client and industry teams initiative continues to grow as clients increasingly hire law firms that understand their business (versus choosing by legal specialty).  We are looking for a Manager level marketing professional who is currently working in a law firm or accounting firm and who is experienced in supporting client/industry teams; we recognize that a dedicated practice group manager can also succeed in this role and would be pleased to meet practice group managers who want to do something related but different, i.e., provide direction and support to an interdisciplinary team.

The role involves working closely with key members of firm management who are assigned to the various teams, as well as the Director of Client and Industry teams and team leaders.  Responsibilities range from arranging monthly meetings, creating agendas, and providing strategic insight into how the team can help drive revenue and execute on agreed upon action items.  Key skills required include: ability to think strategically; ability to work with legal research tools and internal data mining tools, excellent organizational and communication skills; proactive; responsive. 



Specific Requirements

Job Duties Include:

Meeting Administration

  • Calendar Meetings
  • Assist Team Leader/Lead Associate in the Preparation of Meeting Agendas
  • Identify New Clients/industry Trends to Highlight
  • Coordinate Meeting Speakers
  • Track Action Items and Follow-up with Attorneys on Specific Assignments

Business Planning/Budgeting

  • Assist with the Development of the Team Business Plans
  • Help Develop and Monitor Team Budgets
  • Assist with the Identification of Key Industry Trends
  • Assist with the Identification of New Clients and Cross-selling Opportunities
  • Monitor Team Progress Monthly and Report to Firm Management when Necessary

Marketing

  • Develop Marketing Materials and Keep them Updated
  • Ensure Blogs are Kept Up-to-Date and are Cross-posted when Warranted
  • Monitor Team Website Pages Regularly, Keeping them Up-to-Date with Team Successes and Differentiators

Industry Groups and Events

  • Identify Key Industry Associations for Involvement by Team Members
  • Develop a Plan to Join these Groups and Increase Attorney Involvement
  • Where Possible Attend Industry Events and Sessions to Identify Trends and Opportunities
  • Track ROI for Events and Sponsorships

Conduct Research

  • Client Targets/Industry Reports
  • Competitive Intel/Best Practices
  • Industry Organizations
  • Blog Topics

RFP/Pitches

  • Help Prepare Response
  • Do Final Proofread and Edit
