Marketing Director
Under the direction of the Chief Business Development and Marketing Officer (CBDMO), the Director of Marketing is responsible for the planning, development and implementation of the Firm’s marketing strategies and operations. He or she will direct the efforts of the marketing staff and coordinate at the strategic and tactical levels with the other functions of the organization.

Leadership and Strategic Involvement:

Supervise the work of the Marketing Department and conduct performance appraisals.

Serve as a mentor and coach and ensure that all work efforts are being prioritized and directed to achieve the Firm’s strategic goals.

Marketing & Business Development:

Develop a thorough understanding of the Firm’s practice areas, attorney specialties, clients, and business development support needs.

Implement an overall strategic integrated marketing plan.

Work with the business development team to enhance the RFP process and all functions relating to moving prospects forward from awareness, education and relationship development, to pitching and selling and tracking, as well as organizing necessary sales support with the existing managers working within designated practice groups and creating support materials to maximize efficiency for this purpose. Develop and implement a proactive business development strategy that will utilize the Firm’s value propositions/identified high value services to build upon existing client relationships and maximize the breadth and depth of opportunities with existing clients, emphasizing cross selling of services, as appropriate

Develop, and lead a high-performing marketing function that has the appropriate skills, drive, and professionalism to supervise and lead marketing tactics, including:

•Awards, Directories and Lists

•CRM/ERM 

•Events & Webinars

•Internal Communications

•Market/business/competitor intelligence functions

•Marketing collateral and thought leadership

•Organizations

•Public Relations

•Social Media

•Web Site & Marketing Portal

Evaluate the technology infrastructure necessary to support client development initiatives and ensure investments are made appropriately;

Review and conduct data bluresearch, monitor industry trends and recommend new communications strategies. Ensure that the Firm has an effective methodology to collect and utilize research.

Work with departments and program managers to develop marketing and client development plans to achieve and/or exceed program objectives.

Identify organizational marketing needs and allocate appropriate resources for programs.

Enable organization to communicate effectively with internal and external audiences.

Develop and manage the Firm’s promotional activities, including evaluating and selecting advertising, within approved budgets.  

Administration and Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop related policies and procedures

Oversee the selection of and manage relationships and contracts with outside vendors.



Specific Requirements

Minimum of 10 years practical experience in professional marketing or communications function is required, including at least three years management experience and experience with budgeting, strategic planning and vendor management. 

Ability to analyze market and client data and make recommendations for potential areas of growth with a demonstrated ability to articulate and present complex ideas and strategic topics to Firm-wide leadership and other key stakeholders.

Possesses a high level of emotional intelligence and strong analytical and problem-solving skills combined with sound judgment.

An expert in incremental change management and experience must include being a facilitator of real change, not just a party to the process.

Must be a proactive diplomat with strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively with executive management and other senior administrative staff to create consensus-based support for strategies and processes.

Willingness to be flexible, performing responsibilities not specifically identified in the job description and assuming new responsibilities as the Firm's needs change.

Ability to maintain professional composure in high-pressure situations and a fast-paced, multi-authority environment.

Demonstrated skills, knowledge and experience in design and execution of marketing, communications and public relations activity.

Strong oral and communications.

Strong creative, strategic, analytical and management skills.

Flexible, adaptable, and able to work in a team structure and understand the meaning of confidentiality.

Possess a high level of initiative, ability to meet deadlines, manage projects and personnel, set priorities, work independently, develop budgets, monitor and control expenditures, and demonstrate proficiency in design principles while maintaining a high degree of attention to detail.

Be able to work additional hours and travel as needed. 

EDUCATION:

Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism or equivalent. Master’s degree a plus.
