Director of Business Development and Marketing
The Director of Business Development & Marketing serves as the primary business development strategist responsible for developing, leading and implementing business development and marketing activities all with the goal of projecting the image of and enhancing revenue for the firm.

 

To be successful in this role, the Director must possess an understanding of the legal services market, as well as an appreciation for the business development and marketing philosophies and culture of our firm.  The Director will work closely with the Practice Group Leaders and Management to foster a culture of business development and marketing collaboration across practice group lines.

 



Specific Requirements

 

Work with Management, Practice Group Leaders and attorneys to identify and articulate firm, practice group and individual business development goals; develop tactical plans to achieve these goals.  Develop systems to track progress.  Identify opportunities for our attorneys to generate new business leads, make business introductions and expand client relationships; track these efforts and prepare and maintain ongoing reports.  Stay current on market and business trends, the Florida competitive landscape, and the experience and client relationships of the firm’s lawyers.  Work with Practice Groups to develop and implement industry-focused strategies.  Identify and conduct client, prospect, industry and market research/analysis to inform targeted business development efforts.  Work with Practice Group Leaders to develop lateral integration plans and execute on key initiatives, including cross-marketing opportunities.  Draft tailored proposals to existing and potential clients for new business opportunities, including preparing materials for pitch meetings and drafting responses to RFPs.  Oversee award and directory submissions on the individual, practice group and firm levels, including for Chambers USA and others, and oversee the collection and management of related information.  Oversee potential marketing and community sponsorships for consistency with firm brand, level of appropriate support and ROI; work with relevant committees to obtain support where necessary; organize and manage execution when approved.  Represent the firm at conferences, events, and association meetings, networking with other professionals, clients and potential clients to project the firm, our lawyers and our brand into the marketplace.  Work with Chief Administrative Officer to develop and execute training programs for both business development and client service.  Oversee and work to promote all client communications to include Client Advisories, Newsletters, Announcements and Invitations.  Manage public relations and external communications with media groups, or coordinate same with outside PR consultant, if applicable, such as identifying and securing opportunities for individual attorneys or practice groups to advance the reputation of the firm.Manage the firm’s online presence to include public website, internal intranet, blogs and social media, working with team members to develop fresh content in keeping with the firm’s brand, reputation and culture.Supervise and manage BD & Marketing Team members, assessing job descriptions, analyzing skill sets, allocating workloads and completing annual performance evaluations.Develop and track the firm’s business development and marketing budget.

 

Requirements:

 

Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5+ years of progressive marketing, business development and/or sales experience in a professional services environment.
