Competitive & Business Intelligence Research Specialist
The Am Law 200 law firm of Quarles & Brady LLP has an opening for a Competitive & Business Intelligence Research Specialist in our Phoenix office. This position is a key member of the Library & Research Services team providing competitive intelligence and business development research firm-wide. The Competitive & Business Intelligence Research Specialist works directly and collaboratively with library staff, the firm's Client Relations department, attorneys, and administrative and legal staff.

Essential duties & responsibilities:

 

  • Conduct research with the strong ability to refine, organize, analyze, and deliver business intelligence reports and other required business development research packages using internal and external resources.


  • Monitor, evaluate, and disseminate information on companies, individuals, industries, and markets in support of strategic business development and marketing initiatives.


  • Track news items regarding current or prospective clients and industries and inform appropriate firm contacts as needed.


  • Remain curious and informed of market and industry trends and able to "connect the dots" when evaluating varying information sources.


  • Continue development of competitive intelligence techniques and best practices.


  • Perform other library-related tasks and projects as needed, such as document delivery.


Specific Requirements

Qualifications:

  • A professional librarian with an MLS, MLIS, or equivalent from an ALA-accredited institution.

 

  • Ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2-3 years law library/research experience. Business development/marketing experience preferred.

 

  • Excellent organizational skills and able to maintain short deadlines in an active office environment.

 

  • Superior attention to detail and acute verbal and written communication skills.

 

  • Ability to work independently and prioritize and multitask projects effectively and efficiently.

 

  • Strong sense of client service and commitment to being part of an integrated team.

 

  • Solid work ethic with the flexibility to meet the demands of the position.

 

  • Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to work with a variety of attorneys and staff, with the professional presence and demeanor to represent the firm.

 

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office with the capability to learn quickly and utilize additional software applications and electronic research tools (Bloomberg, D&B, Hoovers, Lex Machina, Lexis, Monitor Suite, Westlaw, etc.).
