Director of Marketing and Business Development
The firm seeks a Director of Marketing & Business Development, DC to support business development and marketing efforts in its Washington, D.C. office and our Government Relations department across the firm.

 

Duties:

 

  • Develop an in-depth understanding of our DC office and Government Relations expertise and target clients
  • Facilitate individualized, strategic marketing and business development research, coaching and support to team members within the Government Relations department
  • Identify leads and conceptualize business development opportunities resulting from current affairs
  • Direct business development efforts including opportunity identification, pitches, proposals, RFPs, prospecting and successes, track efforts and document representative matters
  • Facilitate internal meetings and identify most appropriate team members based off prospective client’s needs for pursuit strategy and development
  • Utilize resources to help Policy Professionals and Shareholders understand colleagues’ respective expertise, improve collaboration, cross-selling and hold them accountable to their business development commitments.
  • Work with the Communications team on PR pitches, news release development, external visibility (conferences, speaking engagements), client alerts and internal communications (e-newsletter)
  • Manage and enhance Government Relations marketing materials including the website (bios, news releases, articles, publications, presentations) to grow internal and external awareness of Brownstein capacity
  • Manage DC Marketing Assistant


Specific Requirements

 

Qualifications:

 

  • 7+ years of experience in professional services marketing and or business development
  • A mastery of writing and technical tools such as PowerPoint and graphics
  • A genuine understanding of the nexus between policy and politics, and how our proposals should reflect that
  • Experience with RFPs, grant writing, and drafting custom proposals
  • Knowledge of DC culture, businesses and markets
  • Demonstrated strength in interacting and communicating with colleagues at all levels plus externally
  • Detail-oriented, strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task
  • Strong aptitude in Microsoft Office applications
  • Some travel is required
